Usedom Literature Prize

Szczepan Twardoch has been awarded the 2025 Usedom Literature Prize. This distinction is presented to authors who have made an exceptional contribution to European literary dialogue. The award ceremony took place on April 12, 2025, in the seaside resort of Ahlbeck.

The Usedom Literature Prize, awarded since 2011, draws on the island’s rich literary heritage, connected with the works of Maxim Gorky, Hans Werner Richter, Theodor Fontane, and Thomas Mann.

“Anyone who wants to understand Europe must read Szczepan Twardoch…” – emphasized jury chairman Andreas Kossert. The jury also included Olga Tokarczuk and Manfred Osten.

The ceremony was accompanied by a literary evening with the author, including readings from his novel The Humility (Pokora) and his latest work Null, which was published in Poland on February 26. The German edition of the book, titled Die Nulllinie, translated by Olaf Kühl, was released on April 15 by Rowohlt Verlag.
