A contract has been signed for the option to adapt Null, the novel by Szczepan Twardoch, into a film. The option was acquired by Bombero International, the production company led by German filmmaker Fatih Akin — director, screenwriter, and producer known for Head-On, Soul Kitchen, The Edge of Heaven (awarded Best Screenplay at Cannes in 2007), and In the Fade, which won a Golden Globe in 2018.
Null was published in 2025 by Marginesy in Poland, and as Die Nulllinie in Germany in a translation by Olaf Kühl, published by Rowohlt Verlag.
The novel is a powerful and haunting story about brotherhood in arms, loyalty, the violence of war and the light and darkness within people.
Szczepan Twardoch is deeply involved in supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine. His self-organized fundraiser has already collected over 2.5 million PLN (you can support it here). He personally delivers drones, vehicles, and military equipment to the front lines. In recognition of his efforts, he received the Stand with Ukraine award in 2024.
