POWIEDZMY, ŻE PIONTEK (Let's Say It's Piontek)
Let’s say it’s a game with the readers. Engaging, brilliant, full of surprises and references to the present day. Could this even be a new literary face of Szczepan Twardoch?
Let’s say Erwin Piontek, a 73-year-old miner, goes on an around-the-world cruise. On an old Venus sailing yacht, with a worn-out rubber oilskin jacket, a red woollen cap, a scout compass in a sailing bag and meticulously calculated provisions, he is prepared for a solo expedition. He has an ambitious plan to never dock at a port, for the entire twenty-nine thousand miles.
Let’s say that the fate of Piontek may also have a different course. He does not sail, but lies on red soil, in the valley of the Auob River, which does not flow through the Deutsch-Südwestafrika because it is dried up, but there it is. Instead of a rubber oilskin jacket, he is wearing a corduroy uniform sweatshirt, a belt with braces and eight ammunition pouches.
Then again, perhaps it is quite different. Perhaps Erwin Piontek is a look-alike of a certain dictator? Who knows?
Let’s say the one who reads.
