Szczepan Twardoch’s novel Null won the 2025 Ambassador of New Europe publishing competition. The award is given to the best publication that, in a bold and uncompromising way, challenges the stereotypes defining Europe and its inhabitants and seeks to answer the question of what Europe is today.
The novel was released on February 26, 2026, and has so far been honored with the 2025 Empik Bestseller Award and won the 2025 Book of the Year Poll on Lubimyczytać.pl. The book also earned the acclaim of Gazeta Wyborcza readers, winning the poll for the 2025 Novel of the Year, and took second place on the list of the best novels of 2025 compiled by the German magazine Der Spiegel.
The author commented on the news of the contest results, saying: “I am glad that this novel is alive, is being read, and bears witness to the truth — and I, for my part, am strengthened in my faith in the power of literature. Thank you.”
